Mini ISO?

Does the "slackware64-current-mini-install.iso" allow me to install slackware? Whats the different between this mini and the regular DVD @ 2.6GB?

Hi,

If you read readme_mini.mkisofs
Code:
#
# Slackware installation "mini" ISO.
# This ISO does not contain any packages, and can be used for network
# installs.
#
# Command used to create the ISO:
# (see also /isolinux/README.TXT on the CDROM you'll burn from the ISO)
# Mini ISO
mkisofs -o slackware64-current-mini-install.iso \     -R -J -V "Slackware Mini Install" \     -x ./bootdisks \     -x ./extra \     -x ./pasture \     -x ./patches \     -x ./rootdisks \     -x ./slackbook \     -x ./slackware64 \     -x ./source \     -x ./testing \     -x ./usb-and-pxe-installers \     -x ./zipslack \     -v -d -N \     -hide-rr-moved -hide-joliet-trans-tbl \     -no-emul-boot -boot-load-size 4 -boot-info-table \     -sort isolinux/iso.sort \     -b isolinux/isolinux.bin \     -c isolinux/isolinux.boot \     -preparer "Slackware-current build for x86_64 by Eric Hameleers <alien@slackware.com>" \     -publisher "The Slackware Linux Project - http://www.slackware.com/" \     -A "Slackware-current for x86_64 Mini Install CD - build 28_Apr_2016" \     -eltorito-alt-boot -no-emul-boot -eltorito-platform 0xEF -eltorito-boot isolinux/efiboot.img \     .
You can use;
Quote:
SlackwareŽ: -current <- 'You can use Alien_Bob's-script -mirror-slackware-current.sh <- To download -current, create cdrom/dvd Or Alien_Bob's-script -mirror-slackware-current.sh <- UK backup of script script to download the '-current' of choice ( 'x86' meaning 32bit or 'x86_64' meaning 64bit). + You can either pass parameters or edit the script to create the 'ISO' medium of choice. + Plus select a mirror to use. Or create a 'mirror-slackware-current.conf' by passing '-w' to the mirror-slackware-current.sh, the .conf file will be created in the same directory as the script file. You can edit 'mirror-slackware-current.conf' to suit your needs since the file is well documented. The script mirror-slackware-current.sh is well documented to allow you choices if you desire this route. + Alien_Bob is a SlackwareŽ contributor and has graciously provided the scripts/tools. So an ata-boy and a big Thank You to Alien_Bob.

From -current changelog;
This will allow you to create a local tree and ISO of choice that can be use to install '-current'.
Hope this helps.
Have fun & enjoy!

The mini ISO can also be used to install over http or ftp by selecting the correct media source during setup. Just point the installer at the nearest remote repository for the version of Slackware you wish to run. This method has saved me a lot of time due to the fact that my internet connection is fast. I can have a 14.1 or -current system up and running in less time than it takes to download the DVD ISO, burn it, and run it with my 8x DVD drive.

Installing over http or ftp may not be an option for those with slow transfer rates. The process is very simple though.
