Directory '/home/art/.local/share/mime/packages' does not exist!

I have XFCE 4.8; Would you like my directory contents, along with the files?

NightSky 01-15-2012 06:10 PM

That is very kind, Corp796, thank you. Not ready to upgrade to Xfce 4.8- just trying to understand why i don't have home/me/local/share/mime...and how to set one up apps more off of /home/me/configuration files & scripts.

Have you tried manually creating the "packages" directory just to satisfy what it is looking for?

catkin 01-16-2012 01:44 AM

There is no ~/.local/share/mime directory for my user on Slackware64 13.1 with Xfce 4.6.1.

Maybe ~/.local/share/mime is used to override /usr/local/share/mime (does not exist) and /usr/share/mime (exists with 12 subdirectories including "packages").

After reading that, I fired up slackware on my desktop, and looked to see what you mean, catkin. Same thing here, I didn't see it. Maybe you can try symbolic linking /usr/share/mime if you have an application that requires a mime directory within your home directory.
