Migration?

This started showing up lately (after kernel upgrade?):
Code:

1 S root        6    2  0 -40  - -    0 cpu_st May23 ?        00:00:00 [migration/0]
1 S root        7    2  0 -40  - -    0 cpu_st May23 ?        00:00:00 [migration/1]

What the heck is it (and where's it coming from)?

They say it moves threads from one core to another.

Huh. This is a two-core processor and there just isn't high CPU usage; they sit there at between 0% and 2% most of the time (with GKRellM: Firefox, Thuderbird, MySQL and PostgreSQL mumbling to themselves. A Google search for 'linux cpu migration' all talks about high CPU use (and most of those from 2012). top, however, has the two of them right up at the... uh, top... of the list.

Hmm. It's always sumpin' (and if it ain't one damned thing it's the next damned thing).
