Midnight Commander: UTF-8.patch for mc-2007-06-23-14 test r2008-09-12.

Good morning !

+ «Tab/B-e» can align Shift-highlighted multiline block

Like «Tab/BackSpace» moves a single line, - entire block is moved.

it is adopted

when a few lines are Shift-highlighted, -
«Tab/BackSpace» touches all lines and moves them
'edit/edit.c: option_Shift_highlight_lines_tab_spacing' spaces by default = 4, but any other will do

when a single char(or more) is highlighted, - «Tab/B-e» touches all line
so: «Tab/B-e» can be used to highlight and move a single line also

«BackSpace» deletes at the begining of highlighted lines all (' ' or '\t') and moves block to the left

it affects only Shift-highlighted lines

F3 highlighting should be as it goes

when «Tab», «BackSpace», «Save» or «Save_As» are pressed highlight is still on

encountering a bug
check of unpatched mc-2007-06-23-14 can save time

Does this now handle UTF8 correctly so it doesn't act weird with accents and other "foreign" letters?

The mc released with Slackware 12.1 was 2007-03-09-18 and, contrary to the advice, I run my system with vt.default_utf8=1 (I use rxvt-unicode aka urxvt).

There is already fixed utf-8 compatible version of mc available somewhere along with slackbuild.

Package is called "mc-4.6.1_utf8-i486-1pin.tgz". I'm using it right now.

Thanks ErV.

It's linuxpackages, not slackbuild, btw.

In -current patched package and slackbuild (see changelog)
