Midi troubles

Specs in sig.
Kernel 2.6.4, just did an update with swaret so everything is up to date in the package department

My problem is this:
My SBLive! works fine for PCM stuff (playing MP3s, games, etc) but if I try to play a MIDI file, I get zilch. No errors or anything, just no sound. I have support for my card compiled directly into the kernel, not as a module

DMESG reports it corectly, a quick cat /proc/pci shows no problems...

any ideas?

(I'll post the relevent output of each of these when I get back, but I have to take off now)

Any ideas?

Hi,

I own an Audigy (which is almost the same as a Live!). I too have no midi sound. This is because you need to load any soundfont in your card. It seems that it can be achieved using a program called sfxload. Until know I haven't had any luck with soundfonts and linux...

I'm interested in using linux as a sequencer but there are few applications and they are far away from Cubase, Sonar or Logic.

I know everything is working fine with my card because I've been able to run Rosegarden (http://www.rosegardenmusic.com) and even my usb keyboard works but I had to use a software sampler that could load sounfonts (I don't remember it's name know and I'm not at home to check it...).

If you have better luck with sfxload or something, please, let me know.

Bye
