menuconfig can't find ncurses
Hi i want to run make menuconfig....
I can't because the system says that can't find ncurses libraries....
I have found the ncurses package in the first cdrom under the slackware/l/ folder
I typed installpkg /mn/cdrom/slackware/.../ncures...tgz
The packet seems to be installed succesfully.... The problem is that continues to search for the ncurses libraries...
What i must do?
Do u know if it possible to install rpm packages to slacware?

Seems weird to me. If you installed it properly i guess it should work.
If it is when try 'make menuconfig it continues searching? You could try to 'make mrproper' and then 'make menuconfig', to make sure it really reloads.
You could run 'pkgtool' when logged in as root to see if it's really installed. Use the view option.
Yes, i think it's possible to use rpm-packages, but in this case it should be much easier to use the standard tgz.

Try uninstalling the package first and then re-installing it.

Any time that you install a new library, you must run /sbin/ldconfig as root, or reboot, before the library will be availabe to your system.
Enjoy!

Ncurses seems to be a red herring in the error message, since the missing file actually belongs to glibc. Install (or reinstall) glibc and the problem will probably go away.

You can try installing swaret and see if you are missing any dependencies on your server.
swaret --dep
swaret --dep ncurses
Generally you don't have to run ldconfig after installing ncurses, but you never know. Might be a good idea to run it.

Not sure, if it is an extra package on Slackware, but you normally need a package ncurses-devel in order to be able to build your own kernel. On other distros I know, ncurses alone just won't do.
