ELC: SpaceX lessons learned
Quote:
On day two of the 2013 Embedded Linux Conference, Robert Rose of SpaceX spoke about the "Lessons Learned Developing Software for Space Vehicles". In his talk, he discussed how SpaceX develops its Linux-based software for a wide variety of tasks needed to put spacecraft into orbit—and eventually beyond. Linux runs everywhere at SpaceX, he said, on everything from desktops to spacecraft.
[Robert Rose]
Rose is the lead for the avionics flight software team at SpaceX. He is a former video game programmer, and said that some lessons from that work were valuable in his current job. He got his start with Linux in 1994 with Slackware.

While it does not state that SpaceX uses Slackware, it is all about how SpaceX develops Linux based software for its space vehicles, by their lead avionics software design engineer, who got his start on Slackware. I am sure you can find others.
I can tell you that Slackware has been used in many ways on systems which I have worked with since mid-90s, which includes some notable space related sites, albeit ground based.
I was introduced to Linux on one of those sites as a matter of fact, and installed my first Slackware on a laptop using a crate which held the backup primary mirror for the Hubble as a desk, making best use of available resources!
