By the way, it seems there are some new additions and updates in mate repository, like:
mate-bluetooth-1.5.0
mate-calc-1.5.1
mate-control-center-1.5.2
mate-image-viewer-1.5.0
mate-indicator-applet-1.5.0
mate-polkit-1.5.0
mate-screensaver-1.5.1
mate-system-tools-1.5.0
Maybe even more, would be nice packages to add into Gapan's repo. If it's OK to ask for some more of your attention and spare time, Gapan.

I don't really have much free time these days. Or rather I have lots of free time, but I'm definitely going to spend it with friends and family.
However, some of those packages I will never build. The reason is that I don't see the point in yet another app that does exactly the same as some other app that is already there.

I don't see the reason to, since we already have blueman.

I'm using galculator. It's in the salix repos (or in slackbuilds.org).

That's an upgrade to a package I already have. I will update it in due time, but if you're not that patient, you can use the SLKBUILD in /usr/src to update it yourselves. Just edit the version number and run slkbuild with it.

I don't see the point in yet another image viewer. There are hundreds out there and most of them just as good. I personally use viewnior.

I don't see the point. That's ubuntu nonsense.

I'm not sure it's really needed anywhere.

Definitely not. Use xscreensaver.

These don't actually work in slackware. If you want some gui system admininstration apps, get the salixtools/salixtools-gtk packages from the salix repos.

Good day,
just wanted to note, that there was quite some updates for 1.5 in mate repository:
libmateweather-1.5.1
mate-applets-1.5.1
mate-common-1.5.1
mate-control-center-1.5.3
mate-notification-daemon-1.5.1
mate-panel-1.5.4
mate-system-monitor-1.5.1
mate-window-manager-1.5.3
And mate-terminal-1.5.0 was added too.
I was able to update most of these myself using SLKBUILD's in /usr/src, but mate-applets refused to compile, until I removed patch'es. And I've tried to compile mate-terminal using SLKBUILD from 1.4 and it compiled fine, but refused to run. Complaned about missing gio org.mate.terminal or something.
Also, little trouble I've noticed. If I select suspend or hibernate form mate menu, mate crashes and I have to login again. However, mate-power manager seems to be working just fine (If I close laptop lid, or press suspend button, or wait for suspend timer, laptop suspends or hibernates just fine). I have tried to investigate, but unsuccessfully. All I know, this was happening even before I've tried to update something.

Hey, i've just tried to install Mate in Slackware 14 using the instructions given (i'd done this previously with Slackware 13.37, and it worked fine. All seems to be working ok, except for network manager.
I use mobile broadband, but i don't know if that makes a difference. My connection shows up but when i select it, it instantly fails. When i start nm-applet in a terminal, and try to connect, i get the following error.
Code:
Gkr-Message: secret service operation failed: Process /usr/bin/mate-keyring-daemon received signal 5
nm-applet works in xfce, and the kde applet works too.
Can someone help please?

For those that may be sufering the same issue as i with network manager. It's a bit of a hack job but it's the only thing i managed to get to work. make a symlink of /etc/bin/gnome-keyring and rename it 'mate-keyring' and then do the same to gnome-keyring-daemon renaming the new symlink to 'mate-keyring-daemon'. I renamed the originals to just have .org on the end. This is something i didn't want to do, but it was the only way i could get it to work. Hth someone.

Yep, since mateslackbuilds was started, there is little sense in doing it all over again separately.
