[SOLVED] mariadb networked slackware-64-current

Hi.

Slackware64-current updated regulary.
Mariadb works excellent locally.
I wish to access it over network and Mariadb manual failed to work.
Mariadb after following the above manual do not work over network.
I've created a mariadb user with network access - 'user'@'%' with correct grants.

Putting:

[mysqld]
skip-networking=0
skip-bind-address

in any of:
/etc/my.cnf
/etc/my.cnf.d/server.cnf

do not enable network - port 3306 is not open.

And a naming mess - mariadb or mysqldb?
There are two services mysqld_safe and mariadb.
and all /usr/bin/mysql* are linked to mariadb* equivalents.
and rc.mysqld - instead rc.mariadb
Why?
After a long time mariadb existence mysql should vanish by now.

Mariadb manual mentioned above states:

should return status:

./sql/mysqld would have been started with the following arguments:
--bind-address=127.0.0.1 --innodb_file_per_table=ON --server-id=1 --skip-bind-address ...

But on Slackware64-current there is no mysqld service, instead maridbd service:

root@ProBook mariadbd --print-default
bash: mariadbd: command not found

How can I enable mariadb network connections and prove it is working?

in /etc/rc.d/rc.mysqld, did you modify

Fast and easy solution.

Mysql/Mariadb specific settings are domain of /etc/my.cnf & /etc/my.cnf.d/* as per the manuals.
So why this setting is in rc.d script?

Did not even think about looking there.
Strange for Pat put it there. Must had a huge reason to make it nonstandard.

Not knowing the details but looking at the rc script, it might be that it isn't something that's configurable in a conf file and has to be used as a launch option on the commandline.
