Mariadb in 14.2

On 14.2 mariadb is at version 10.0.38.

Searching the mariadb web site finds the following EOL dates:

10.0 Mar 2019
10.1 Oct 2020
10.2 May 2022
10.3 May 2023
10.4 July 2024

Perhaps I missed the memo or my search-fu is lacking, but are there any plans to update mariadb on 14.2?

No, just like there have been NO updates to mariadb 5.5(.65) on Slackware 14.1 (and mysql in 14.0), even though those slackware releases are still being maintained.

I think the reason is newer versions need updated libraries too, so you will into a chain of packages to be updated (but if anymore knows better, please correct me).

PS: in -current mariadb is already in the 10.4 series.

Pat,

I compiled mariadb-10.4.11 on 14.2 without incident. I am no DB expert so I did not test further.

If there are no plans to update mariadb directly in /patches, perhaps a newer package could be added to /extra?
