Making ntfs HD bootable in slack 10

Hi All..

I have question regarding a ntfs hard drive which i have mounted in linux

I have 2 hard drives on my pc, One has linux and windows it. The other is a windows (ntfs).. I am wanting to make so i can have the 3 choices on lilo as its a working win2000 system.

What do i add to lilo.conf to make it bootable..? I have took a look at the file and i have an idea what i must do, then i got the horror scenario that i reboot only to find that i had screwed up my lilo altogether.

So i am doing the proper thing and seeking advice first : /

Here is how my lilo.conf looks at the moment:

# Windows bootable partition config begins
other = /dev/hda2
label = Windows
table = /dev/hda
# Windows bootable partition config ends

# Linux bootable partition config begins
image = /boot/vmlinuz
root = /dev/hda1
label = Linux
read-only
# Linux bootable partition config ends

Thanks in advance.

Is lilo written to the MBR of the main drive (in this case it appears to be hda)? With your lilo.conf, I am not familiar with this line:

table = /dev/hda

Have you tried your lilo.conf with parameters similar to the one for Slackware, which would appear as follows:

# Windows bootable partition config begins
other = /dev/hda2
label = Windows
read-only
# Windows bootable partition config ends

I am not too well versed with the different alterations that can be made to lilo.conf, but I have used a similar approach in the past to access Windows partitions from boot. Also, if you try this, make sure that you back up the existing lilo.conf and have a lilo boot disk prior to changing this file. It may save you from further headaches! Let me know how it works out for you.

I guess it will be something like this :

other = /dev/hdb1
label = Windows
table = /dev/hda

Again first line will change according to if the new HDD is sata or IDE.. if its sata then it will be /dev/sda1.
