Makepkg and slack-desc
hi, I was making a packge to make easier the life of some friends of mine to install a complicated program.... but that package do not shows the description file when installing! I followed thoes rules about 11 lines...etc.. but It didn't work anyway...
I just did makepkg prog.tgz
If anyone could help... I also copied a slack-desc from a package that shows it and it didn't worked...

In the slack-desc file, the word every line starts with (before the colon ':') must be exactly the same as the name of your package, or else installpkg will not list any lines found in slack-desc.

hi thanks for your help but this still not working! look my package is called fpc-2.0.1.tgz and the slack-desc file is this one:

fpc: fpc 2.0.1
fpc: Free Pascal a 32 and 64 bit professional
fpc: Pascal compiler It also has excellent
fpc: compatibility with TP 7.0
fpc: HomePage
fpc: Packaged by mirttex

what do you think is wrong?

Is it in the /install directory?

Just wondering,

yes, it is on /install. I was making some tests and it looks like the name before the ':' must be exactaly the same but if someone change the name? some prograns like k3b isn't this way...

Hum... now I get it ... if the name of the file was nos exactaly the same it should be like nameoftheprogram-version-ix86-dontknowwhatissupposedtobehere.tgz
Whith this kind of name the description shows up!
Thanks Alien Bob for the tip.
