Make menuconfig problem

Hi there, i'm trying to install a new kernel, but at the point at which I say "make menuconfig (or whatever config)" It gives me an error that target contains no `%' and then stops.
Its really annoying, can anyone help? Thanks!

Could you tell us, if menuconfig works on other sources? Maybe your source is a bit destroyed. If it doesnt work over other sources, it can be caused your ncurses version (it's c library which suport high-level terminal operations).

Heres the exact error:
bash-2.05b# make menuconfig
scripts/Makefile.build:101: *** target pattern contains no `%'. Stop.
make: *** [scripts/fixdep] Error 2
bash-2.05b#

And make menuconfig works with my 2.4.22 kernel source.

So delete and download kernel source again
