LVM has lost the plot - "Couldn't find device with uuid...."

Hi there,

One of my users rebooted their Slackware 12.0 workstation to be greeted with the message "Couldn't find device with uuid ..." when LVM is detecting volumes.

I booted off an install disc so I could take a look and I can't find anything wrong :-/ Running pvscan finds all volumes and I can activate, mount and use the volumes as I normally would.

Does anyone know of a reason why the main boot would fail to detect the disk but booting from the install disc would detect it just fine? It was working ok just the other day!?
