Luks Encryption in Slackware

Hi Forum,

In view of the most recent advances in parallelization of brute force attacks on known cryptographic primitives, ( Hash functions, MACs, Public key/Symmetric key encryption protocols ) AES, RSA, ECDSA, SHA, HAVAL-160 just to name a few, plus the "Techie" algorithmic stuff designed specifically to be resilient to differential/Linear cryptanalysis schemes... can Luks 256bit encryption still be considered secure ?

( I mean, Secure from the standpoint of an attacker with the computational resources of a Nation , like NSA, FSB, etc... and its plethora of Crays BlueGenes, whatever...)

To be more practical :

Imagine that I am a terrorist :-D using my knowledge of Energetic Materials, Shock Wave Propagation in Condensed Matter, and Radiation Hydrodynamics to design a Multi Gigaton Warhead ( do these bitches exist ...?! ) to be detonated in the centre of PyongYang, but in a sudden access of Humanity, I believe in Kim Jong Il's redemption, and quit playing God... I no longer plan to unleash E=mc^2 over the poor people that lives down there, but ... Damn...

Someone gains access to my computer and steals my disk... Can the plans of Armageddon be recovered from the bits of my partition encrypted with Luks AES 256...?

I know it is mathematically feasible, but is it TECNOLOGICALLY, and REALISTICALLY feasible...?

Alex

I'm not sure this thread belongs to Slackware forum. A more appropriate forum might be Linux-Security.

Hi gegechris99

Good point... how do I move it...? can I move it, or must it be Moderator to do that...?

dead scared now. :D :p

returning to the prob at hand, my best guess is if a moderator feels that your problem will gain more exposure by moving it to a separate section of this forum, then he will do so.
