Lower screen resolution

How do I edit my xorg.conf to have a lower screen resolution. By default I have 1280*1024 but I would like to have it default to 1024*768.

I am using Fluxbox. Is there any way to change the resolution from within Fluxbox?

You can use: CTRL+ALT++ or CTRL+ALT+- or use xrandr program. This won't change the default resolution, which is always the first in your xorg.conf file. If you want to setup a default one, put it first in the mode list on your xorg.conf file.

You can also run xorgconfig to regenerate your xorg.conf file with the desired resolution as the default
