i was copying a film on my disktop then a massage said that low disk space
how can i know the space on my drives

on console type
#df -h

otherwise right click on a particular drive and check out in "properties".

Use df -h to show total space used. You can use du to show space used by each directory. Browse the man pages for both for more options / refinements.
