Logitech mouse/keyboard use on slack
Hey everyone,
I was curious if there was a way to configure my Logitech Cordless Elite Duo mouse and keyboard combination to work under Slackware 10.1. I have posted on the Logitech discussion forum without yet a response. Has anyone attempted this, and have a successful way of setting it up that they could share with me? Thanks. |
When you say "get it working", do you mean that there's absolutely no input whatsoever, or do you mean that multimedia keys aren't working?
I ask, because as I understand it, there's no reason why the keyboard/mouse themselves wouldn't work. The base station plugs into the computer, either through USB or PS/2, and as far as the computer is concerned they're a regular keyboard and mouse. It's when you start dealing with extra features that you run into problems with it not being supported, no? |
if its the bluetooth set, i have them and they work, some of the keys dont work but both scroll wheels work. I havent yet figured out how to change the channel. had my wallmate ( the guy nextdoor) change his since he has xp.

The keys are actually pretty easy to get working, depending on your WM. It's a two-step process.... first, assign a scan code to the key, second, assign an event to the scancode. I use XFCE, and there, it's ridiculously easy to assign an event to a scancode.
Go to Control Panel > Window Manager > Keyboard. Create a new profile, and you can now assign events to keypresses. I wrote a howto that's XFCE-specific for that part. But assigning the scancodes to keypresses is distro- and wm-independant. http://killerbob.ca/howto/inetkeys.html |
