Hi Everyone,
I'm running Slackware 11 with Dropline & the 2.6.17 huge kernel. I installed the Wine 0.9.40 Slackware binary and have been trying to get Sierra's old Football Pro98 game to run with Wine.
I had it running and playing, with the exception of being able to load a previously saved game. It crashes with an unhandled page fault every time.
So, I tried some other Slack binary versions of Wine all the way back to 0.9.38. Now, I can't get the game to start at all. The game shell crashes with the error "Football:Load DLL z:\home\user\ShellW.DLL Error 126".
I'm pretty sure this is some kind of path issue. Wine -or the game - is not finding the ShellW DLL which is present in the installed game directory. And Wine is configured so that the c: drive is mapped to /home/user/.wine/drive_c (which is the default). I went back to the 0.9.40 version with the same results. Prior to installing the binary, I uninstalled the previous binary using Slack's pkgtool. I also deleted my user .wine folder and all the subfolders.
Someone please tell me what I've missed. It was 90% working before.
Thanks,
Mark
