Live Stream problems

I am trying to stream online media and am having problems. Gxine tries to open it but I get an error "No demuxer found stream not recognized" I searched and found a thread but it didn't look like anyone had a solution. I googled the problem and it seems that a lot of ubuntu users had this problem and they fixed it by installing "libxine1-ffmpeg" I looked for it and could only find it as a deb or rpm package. So I don't know how to fix that.

I tried Mplayer and it didn't work, and I have no idea how to fix it for that.

I tried real player and it said I needed text/html component but couldn't find it.

And VLC player actually plays the audio but no video. So I just need a way to stream live video. Preferably I would like to get gxine working because thats what firefox defaults to online. Do I have to get the libxine1-ffmpeg and where can I get it?

Hi Wardub,

Do you have the xine-lib-1.x.xx.x package installed ?

You can get a copy HERE

You could also try installing the ffmpeg package (and it's dependencies).

And you could also try installing the Mplayer-Codecs

After you have set them up, reboot and see how it goes.

Hope this helps

Cheers

Orbit

Ive solve the same problem by installing Mplayer and codecs, codecs in the same directory with xine codecs, compile mplayer from source.
