Live CD on Installation Disk 2

Just a quick question. I downloaded the 2 Slack 9.1 disks, and on the second CD it said that it can also be used as a 'live cd,' as I'm sure you're aware. I'm just wondering if there is any way you can use gnome or kde on this CD (I notice that those packages are included on the second CD) or if I'd need to download Slax for that?
