Linux version of MSM Messenger? (Need video conferencing)
I know this isn't a Slackware specific question, but I thought y'all might have some ideas. My parents live in NY and I live in AL and we video/audio conference pretty regularly using MSN Messenger. Unfortunately, this forces me to use our WinXP machine in order to do the conference. Is there a Linux program that is compatable with MSN Messenger that does video/audio conferencing? Corollary: Is there a program OTHER THAN MSN Messenger that is cross platform that I could use for video/audio conferencing? Thanks for your help!

There's also AMSN, looks a lot like MSN.
http://amsn.sourceforge.net
Not sure about video and audio, but not sure if GAIM can do that either.
I'm using centericq ( www.centericq.de), which has no audio or video, text only,
no smilies, no pictures. But it fits in an xterm, uses little resources, does every
protocol (ICQ, MSN, yahoo..) I can think of and more.

I downloaded and installed Gaim-vv on my windows machine. I was able to login to my msn messenger account however I couldn't setup the "linphone" plugin in order to allow for video conferencing. The linphone option is NOT list under plugins on my machine. On the gaim-vv website there is a linphone tarball. I'm not certain how to install it. Need help!

gaim-vv is currently crap.
It segfaults all the time, and you HAVE to install THEIR libraries and THEIR version of linphone to get it to work, standard rpms of those libj2k & libosip packages don't work. This is horse-s**t. A form of open source vendor lock-in. It's still poorly developed. We need to wait a while before they standardize the package (they might not, some of these developers are too arrogant to standardize their packages for dependencies).

Kopete has a netmeeting plugin, but I haven't tried it yet. Give it a try, it's part of KDE and if you installed KDE it most likely is allready installed.
