Linux router

I'm trying to make my slack box a router.
In order to talk to the outside world, i.e. Internet, I need to authenticate using Protected EAP. I just tried to use a regular linksys home router to share the internet but it didn't work.
So I was hoping building a linux router might help me solve the problem. If anyone out there knows about this please reply. If you know that this is impossible please reply too :)
Thanks for reading my question.

While a normal Linksys box probably can't help much on Protected EAP, you might want to consider reflashing it with OpenWRT, which supports EAP. The easiest way to put OpenWRT on your Linksys is to visit http://www.x-wrt.org/ .
