Linux - Networking

Hello Everyone,

Does anyone know the name of the "table" if that is what is in the Windows NT network scheme that would be equivalent to a routing table or the table that is used to map a PC (mac address) to the IP address?

I have a "rogue" Linux box in a corporation (think grey suits and stodgy minds) running a Windows NT network. I cannot use DHCP to connect, and I need someone to make a static connection on the network. I have configured my linux box, and now I need to get the network connected.

The problem is that I need to be able to tell the NT guys what I need, but I don't "speak their language", so to speak. I would need to be fairly specific in what table on what server would be the place where the static connection is defined. I am pretty sure we are running WINS, and we were successfully able to do this before (we got lucky). Now I need to do it again, but I don't have access to the same person who made the original static connection.

Well, its a long shot, but if anyone know this I would appreciate it.

Thanks,
Mark and Nalla
