Linking a TTY to an Xterm? (rxvt)

THe other day i tried to view TTY6 from an xterm, using cat/tail/ln. none of them worked, i checked google, and searched lq for anything relavent and didn't find any. the Terminal how-to told me everything about terminals and terminal emulators, but nothing involving the question.

does anyone know if it's possible, and where there is documentation on, viewing a tty terminal on a pts terminal (xterm or RXVT)
