lilo timeout

how do you change it from the default 2 minutes?

also, how do you find out how much HD space is taken up?

Open /etc/lilo.conf and take a look at the line that says: timeout = 2000 change it to timeout = 10 for 10 seconds.
To see how much directory takes use du as ahwkong said, if you want to know about different mounted partitions use df. It's recommended to use df -h and du -h so bytes values are translated into MB and GB making it easier to read

i've already tried that and it doesn't work. the timer still starts at 2:00 at the lilo menu

thanks for the df tip though

Yes, you've run lilo to apply the changes like ahwkong said, by the way, to delay 10 seconds it should be timeout = 100 NOT 10 (my mistake) as the time is taken in deciseconds.
