lilo that comes packaged with slack 9.1 doesn't recognize vga modes?

alright, perhaps i may have a bad burn or bad iso (checked md5); but for some reason the lilo packaged with slack 9.1 won't recognize vga=773, etc...

is anyone else having this problem?

That id because most probably you didn't enable framebuffer support in the kernel you're using. You shoyld recompile and include framebuffer support and support for your card under the framebuffer options. Put it into the kernel, not as a module. Then install the new kernel and lilo should work in different vga modes. I still dont like framebuffer consoles.. They are considerably slower, although they do look nicer. Why not use a minimalistic WM and have a open aterm if you really spend so much time in console.
