Lilo error: vmlinuz too big?

Hi all, just download slackware 10 and recompiled the kernel. The problem is this, now after I've done the configs, and run make dep & make bzImage and copy the compressed kernel to the /boot path and edited lilo.conf accordingly. When I run lilo, I get the error

Fatal: Kernel /boot/vmlinuz is too big

Granted, this is only the 2nd time I'm actually recompiling my kernel so I might hv missed out something really basic or done something really stupid but I don't remember this being a problem the last time I recompiled my kernel. Any thoughts on how to solve this problem? Thanks.

Reconfigure your kernel. Get rid of stuff you don't need, put stuff in modules... anything not needed for booting is candidate for being a module.

Please mention your kernel version when you want help for compile
Also make sure to copy the good kernel file (arch/i386/boot/bzImage not vmlinuz)

thx keefaz, I didn't actually use the image in the arch/i386/boot directory. That solved it ..now to wait for make modules to finish ....
