Unhappy LILO and SLACKWARE HELP!!!

Hi,
I joined this forum yday and spent quite sometime going through the forums. I installed SLACKWARE 9.1 and installed Lilo to MBR. Everything works fine except that the changes made to lilo.conf doesn't affect the bootloader. Why? Because of this I haven't tried recompiling my kernel.
Please help!!

Did you run /sbin/lilo after changing /etc/lilo.conf??
This command will actually install the bootloader.

Hope this helps.

You need it run lilo (as root) for it to notice the changes you've made to lilo.conf . Grub doesn't. If you alter /boot/grub/menu.lst the changes are there next time you reboot. And you can get to a command prompt to fix any mistakes you've made at the grub screen. And it handles many different distros with ease.
