I trying to install slackware on Intel ICH5/R Sata hard drives

when i boot from the cd rom (using slackware-current because it has a sata.i kernel) it recognizes both sata drives as sda and sdb, so i set up 3 partitions on my sda and one on sdb. (sda1 as root and bootable flag)

I tried to install lilo on my MBR but i get the following error

L 99 99 99 99...

looking at lilo man pages it says:
invalid second stage index sector (LILO)

so i try grub on the mbr i get

Error 16

i can boot fine using the cdrom (or floppy for that matter) using a sata.i kernel

i would post the config files, but it would be a huge pain
they are nothing out of the ordinary at all

it says boot from /dev/sda

and an image on /dev/sda1 to /boot/vmlinuz .. with label linux, and read-only

normal vga and no compact or prompt boot either, i tried either way, it wouldn't work

**EDIT** sorry figured it out, had to turn off raid in the bios... didn't need it anyway.
