LILO

Hi all,

Slackware 13. After the kernel security updates of yesterday, I have to reinstall LILO. First time I do this and I'm a bit confused because I find different informations on the web.

I "think" I reinstalled LILO as described in the SlackBook: ...then reinstalling LILO just involves typing /sbin/lilo (as root) at the prompt. But when I do this, what I get:

LBA32 addressing assumed
Added Linux *
One warning was issued.

I don't think I'm "safe" to reboot...

I can read at some places that I have to change or adapt what's in /etc/lilo.conf but what I know stops here...

Any suggestions ?

That LBA32 warning isn't serious. You can fix it by putting lba32 in the global options in lilo.conf. I put it just before the VESA options:
Code:
# Override dangerous defaults that rewrite the partition table:
change-rules
  reset
lba32
# VESA framebuffer console @ 1024x768x256
Then run lilo again.

It's nothing serious, you can reboot safely even with the warning.
