libreoffice slideshow causes gui to hang

Now and again I use the slideshow in impress to make sure that my slides appear as they should. This afternoon I used it for the first time for about 2 weeks and it hung. The whole (KDE) gui hung. I hopped out into a virtual terminal and killed it (office) and the gui became operational again.
This is my setup.
I have an asus p53e i5
OS: slackware x86_64 14.1 with alien's ktown and multilib (need it for the printer which has 32 bit drivers). Libre office 4.1.3.2, also from alien - I installed the latest package on 24th November and I have used the slideshow since then.
As it worked two weeks ago, I am guessing that the fault lies somewhere within my system rather than in libreoffice. I wondered if anyone else has had similar problems, and if so, how they were overcome (the problems, I mean). Is there a log file I could check? Any other information I should provide?

Alien & Willysr, thanks very much for that - it works perfectly now. Alien, I feel a bit embarrassed that I missed that other thread .
