LibreOffice printing dialog works in KDE, but nowhere else
Hi everyone,
I just ran into a problem with printing in LibreOffice, and I would like to know, if anybody else has the same problem. Most of the time I use KDE, and LibreOffice printing works just fine and exactly as expected in KDE. However, in Fluxbox, WindowMaker and Enlightenment e19, instead of the printing dialog a transparent window appears, so that the document is still fully visible, and LibreOffice freezes. This is on Slackware64-14.1 with LibreOffice 4.4.5.2 from Alien BOB. Does anyone have the same problem? Is there a solution? I did a LQ.net plus an internet search, but found nothing useful, yet; but if I missed something, I'd appreciate if someone would point me there. Thanks a lot! gargamel |
The only thing I can think of is something in how you configured the options.

Try the slackbuild at SBo.

I use AlienBob's Libreoffice and have no difficulty printing under Fluxbox or anything else for that matter.
Try starting LO from the command line, then opening the print dialog. There's a chance LO might throw some useful error messages to the terminal. You might also look in the logs in /var/log/cups, particularly error_log, but that's a very long shot. If the problem is in LO, the print job may never be getting to CUPS. |

So, I'd also recommend trying orbea's solution, to see if your problem is fixed in later versions. Although, since frankenbell isn't having issues on his machine, it could be a local issue. Maybe try creating a new user and see if the same happens there. |

Thanks, everyone! I'll mark this thread as SOLVED.
The solution was simple: Remove the directory ~/.config/libreoffice, before starting LibreOffice the next time. It was easy to track it down, once I had followed your idea to try it with another user on the same system. The other user didn't have the problem, so it had to be something related to the personal LibreOffice setup of the main user. gargaml |
Thanks for the update.
