Current: libreoffice powerpoint no music

Slackware64 Current Multilib, Alien Bob's Libreoffice 4.4.3

Before the Apr 21 updates to Current Alien Bob's Libreoffice only played the music of a powerpoint presentation when the ugly gst-plugin (as provided by Salix) was installed.
Since the Apr 21 updates, even with Alien Bob's Apr 24 Libreoffice update, Libreoffice does not play the music.
Whereas before Slackware only spoke of gstreamer (the 0.10.23 version), it now speaks of gstreamer0 (the 0.10.23 version) and gstreamer (the 1.4.4 version). As Salix did not update (they track Stable, not Current) I built the bad{0,} and ugly{0,} plugins myself. Alas to no avail.
Any hints would be appreciated.

Mixing a Slackware current base with Salix stable repos is a very bad idea.

If you use Slackware stable, you can use SlackBuilds.org build scripts to build your stuff. On current, you're pretty much on your own, and you get to keep the pieces when something breaks. Some stuff might build OK, some might not.

I know *), that is why (as I said) I (re)built the bad{0,} and ugly{0,} plugins myself.

*) Well, there are no guarantees. But it works as long as the library versions are reasonably compatible - which in this case was from Nov 7, 2013 (the release date for Slackware 14.1) until Apr 21, 2015 (the big library update for Current).

have you tried rebuilding LO itself?

The 4.4.3 version of LO is the one Alien Bob built after the Apr 21 library update - see http://alien.slackbook.org/blog/page/3/ for details - so rebuilding does not look like being the solution. Anyway I will have a look again at the before and after versions of the ugly{0,} packages and if necessary rebuild the LO package.

@willysr: What I said about Salix and Slackware current also applies to your Mate build. I was able to build msb 1.10 with only a minor amendments to a few slackbuilds.

i already use MATE 1.10 since few weeks ago
if you want to build MATE 1.10, go checkout 1.10 branch.
It will be merged back to master once 1.10 is officially announced

I had a go at the ugly0 plugin again. The (renamed) Salix version as well as my rebuilt version throw these assertions:

Code:
root@riposo:~/works# libreoffice --impress /C/Etc/Himself/Butterflies.pps
(soffice:2591): GLib-GObject-CRITICAL **: g_object_set: assertion 'G_IS_OBJECT (object)' failed
(soffice:2591): GStreamer-CRITICAL **: gst_element_get_bus: assertion 'GST_IS_ELEMENT (element)' failed
(soffice:2591): GStreamer-CRITICAL **: gst_bus_add_watch_full: assertion 'GST_IS_BUS (bus)' failed
(soffice:2591): GStreamer-CRITICAL **: gst_bus_set_sync_handler: assertion 'GST_IS_BUS (bus)' failed
(soffice:2591): GLib-GObject-CRITICAL **: g_object_unref: assertion 'G_IS_OBJECT (object)' failed
(soffice:2591): GStreamer-CRITICAL **: gst_element_set_state: assertion 'GST_IS_ELEMENT (element)' failed
(soffice:2591): GLib-CRITICAL **: g_source_remove: assertion 'tag > 0' failed
root@riposo:~/works#
@willysr: As I said I built mate 1.10 for Current successfully. I run atril, caja, engrampa and pluma under xfce 4.12 without any problems.

The Slackel distribution is based on the Salix one, which in turn is based on Slackware. Whereas Salix tracks Slackware Stable, Slackel tracks Current.
I had a look at the Slackel repository and saw that the gst-plugins-{bad,ugly}{0,} packages are post Apr 21, 2015. Looking at the SLKBLDs showed ugly0 to have some patches.
So I installed the gst-plugins-{bad,ugly}{0,} packages from Slackel. Libreoffice --impress <powerpoint> now warned about missing libraries, threw the same assertions as before and no music. After installing the lame and twolame packages from Salix and the x264 package from Slackel the warning for the missing libraries were gone, the assertions remained and still no music.
After installing the Slackel distribution, applying the updates and installing libreoffice I found that libreoffice --impress <powerpoint> shows the same symptoms, so still no music either ...

Did you try my packages for gst-plugins bad0, ugly0 and/or ffmpeg0? Packages available only for Slackware -current;

Eric: When I set out on this odyssee I checked your repos (as I always do) and only found the stuff for 13.37 ...
I regularly check your pastures, but for one reason or another I always forget your changelogs.
Anyway, I removed the slackel {bad,ugly}0 packages and installed your {bad,ffmpeg,ugly}0 ones. The result is the same as before: no music and assertions being thrown:

root@eisen:~/works# libreoffice --impress /C/Etc/Himself/Butterflies.pps &
[1] 4692
root@eisen:~/works# javaldx: Could not find a Java Runtime Environment!
Warning: failed to read path from javaldx

(soffice:4709): GStreamer-CRITICAL **: gst_bus_add_watch_full: assertion 'GST_IS_BUS (bus)' failed

(soffice:4709): GLib-CRITICAL **: g_source_remove: assertion 'tag > 0' failed
[1]+ Done libreoffice --impress /C/Etc/Himself/Butterflies.pps
root@eisen:~/works#

If you are interested you can download the powerpoint from https://drive.google.com/file/d/0B0g...ew?usp=sharing

Eric's 5.0.0.rc1 build resolves my powerpoint-no-music issue.
