LibreOffice or calligra for 14?
|
LibreOffice won't be available in the core system on 14.0, but will remain available on SlackBuilds.org and via AlienBOB's packages. Calligra is included in the core system because it's a part of KDE.
I hope that answers your question? |
Well, that's not "tea or coffee?" as you can have both for the same (very affordable) price ;)
In fact Calligra is included in the Slackware Linux distribution, and in addition Alien Bob provides "unofficial" (but working very well) packages for LibreOffice. Maybe your surprise comes from the fact that Alien Bob on one hand is a major contributor to Slackware and on the other hand provides SlackBuilds and packages not included in Slackware but intended to be used with it. As Slackware can't include everything, additional packages and SlackBuilds are provided by volunteers, this being an example of that. Have a Great Day as well! |
I installed LibreOffice 3.5.5 and removed KDE Office, Libre is more robust and handles Microsoft crap very well. But that's the beauty of Linux, Slackware Linux....pick your poison, take your poison, and live : )

I upgraded my LibreOffice to 3.5.6 using Alien Bob's package(many thanks for that, man!). I also have Calligra installed on slackware-current. I like to have both. :)

Thanks to everyone...
