Unhappy libelf.so.0 not found slackware-current x64

I am running Slackware x64 current. I just did a slackpkg update and slackpkg upgrade-all.

I am trying to compile the latest kernel and I am getting:

host:/usr/src/linux# make menuconfig
HOSTCC scripts/basic/fixdep
/usr/libexec/gcc/x86_64-slackware-linux/4.5.1/cc1: error while loading shared libraries: libelf.so.0: cannot open shared object file: No such file or directory
make[1]: *** [scripts/basic/fixdep] Error 1
make: *** [scripts_basic] Error 2

When I try whereis libelf.so.0 - nothing found? gcc and glibc was one of the packages updated.

I have tried ldconfig. No change there?

To quote the changelog ( ftp://ftp.osuosl.org/pub/slackware/s.../ChangeLog.txt ):

l/libelf-0.8.13-x86_64-1.txz: Added.
This is needed to enable LTO support in GCC.

Don't forget to check for new packages added to -current.

Code:
slackpkg install-new
let you install packages added to -current since the last "upgrade-all".
