Isn't the Optimus thingy meant to save battery (power) ? |
I would get something like this
http://www.amazon.com/gp/offer-listi...condition=used that has the Intel iGPU |
Anonymo and RJwen,
also thanks for your responsen. Does anyone have an idea how well that video work under Slackware 14. (Video Radeon HD 7420G) I think the cpu is no problem. Thanks in advance for response. |
Hi Fietser,
Anything that is supported by X server and the Kernel will run under Slackware. Cheers... :) |
RJwen , oke thank you.
How do i find oud wats supported by X server and kernel? Greetings. |
Avoid Optimus technology if you can and more generally, be careful with switchable graphics as they probably will need some additional components like bumblebee. If you selected a model, try to get the exact model/type of the GPU and make a search with that in the forums here at LQ to see if there are problems mentioned.

Thanks for your answer. your safest bet is Intel. Maybe you're right, the local shop here had a nice offer. A HP pavillion G6-1310ED for 438 euro. This one I bought. It will be a while before I have Slackware installed appropriately teach. If it work I'm here to tell you. Greetings |
I have a thinkpad x100e which runs fine out of the box with Slackware64-14.0. Any function-keys work properly, wifi, lan audio and graphics are no problem. The architecture is completely AMD.
