Left mouse button doesn't work when X first starts (Slackware 13)

I've upgraded slackware 12.2 to 13 on my desktop. Now every time after I reboot my left mouse button doesn't work in X. It moves, and the right button works, but not the left one. I've replaced the usb mouse with a ps2 mouse and it's the same problem.

Also I found that it does work in the console if I do ctrl+alt+f2 and have gpm started.

I tried disabling gpm, didn't help. I used to have the mouse in xorg.conf, I deleted it from there, made no difference.

Anyone have any other ideas?

Thanks in advance

Which desktop manager are you using: KDE or XFCE or other?

In case you use KDE, did you remove directory $HOME/.kde (or copy it elsewere)? It's recommended due to the upgrade to KDE4.

Thanks gegechris99, but I've figured it out and that wasn't it. It turns out X treats one of my joysticks as a mouse (a Microsoft SideWinder steering wheel). I unplugged it and the problem is gone. I wonder if I can have X ignore it as it ignores my gamepad and joystick.
