Latest Harfbuzz Broke Something....

As recommended in the change log, I removed udev and then installed all the updates.
Upon rebooting the machine I noticed this line,

Quote:
Triggering udev events: /sbin/udevadm trigger --action=change
Then this error:

Quote:
/usr/bin/fc-cache: error while loading shared libraries: harfbuzz.so.0: cannot open shared object files: no such file or directory
When trying to start x (startx) the same error popped up.
So, I went back to harfbuzz-1.0.1, rebooted and the system is now
working.

No problem here. Harfbuzz does contain a library which links against icu4c, and assuming all the updates were applied that library will no longer work if you drop back to the old harfbuzz. If, on the other hand, the icu4c update were somehow missed you could expect a lot of things to be broken.

Well.......................
Upon checking the package log, the correct version of icu4c was installed, but just to be on the "safe side" I downloaded it again from OSU.. It is an almost 8 meg file, but it downloaded before I could take my fingers off the keyboard. I thought that a bit odd, but there were no errors during installation (upgradepkg --reinstall --install-new).
I then re-installed version 1.0.6. of harfbuzz, rebooted, and the system reported the same error.
So... I reinstalled version 1.01, fired up a browser and downloaded the same two files from Alien Bob's U.S. mirror. Those worked. No errors. Don't know what to say. There is probably a logical explanation......

This reminds me of a problem I've had downloading from OSU Open Source Labs with Opera-12.16.

SeaMonkey has proven to be a more than adequate replacement for Opera, but as a long
term user of the "old" Opera I fire it up every now and then, especially for downloading
as I prefer the format it uses, that is, the amount of information presented.

Now this doesn't happen with every file or every time, but when downloading from OSU

with Opera-12.16, instead of the file ending in .txz, the suffix is .man.

The size is same as the intended file, which means it is probably the correct file, but it has the wrong suffix.
I haven't tried changing the name and viewing the file.
This only happens at OSU.
