Large text file

Hi been a while since i posted here, hope not to much has changed

To my horror I discovered that after creating a 68 meg file I cannot open it in any app that is installed standard with slack.

It is only a text file.

Is there anyone who knows how I can edit it and what app I can use.

openoffice 2 couldnt do it as well.

Thanx for the help

You could try using 'split' to cut it up into smaller chunks. split --help for info

That's odd - I just opened a 200MB binary file in vim on a Slackware box here. I also have 512MB RAM - what error did you get?

Hi

Thanx for the replies, unfortunately i posted in haste.
When all else fails turn to emacs or vim, they both opened the files fine.
