laptop runs way too hot after resuming from sleep mode under Slackware 14.1

Hello all,

I have a T420 that will run at 199 degrees Farenheit just idling after resuming from sleep under Slack 14.1. Normal temp is from 100 (atm) to around 140 under load. I know it is a kernel issue but what can I do besides installing a different kernel, if anything.

Thanks,

Although I have a different brand and model, I'd bet it has something to do with the dreaded intel graphics kernel module `i915'. The regression is comming back since days of Linux 3.4+ releases.

In my case following boot parameters did reduced issue manifestation significantly:

intel_pstate=disable i915.semaphores=1

I leave them in /etc/lilo.conf in `append' option.
