Laptop Power Monitor and Wireless Card not working


Hello I am new to linux and cannot seem to get the power monitor and the wireless card to work, I performed a full installation of Slackware 10.2 and here are the specs of my Gateway 6518gz laptop:

Any advice on how to resolve both problems would be a great help thanks in advance

Update I have figured out how to resolve both problems.

most of your problem will be solved if you install 2.6.x kernels. I have my WiFI, touchpad, and ACPI features activated after i boot to 2.6.x

Hi,

I agree you can change your kernel to 2.6. I would suggest you to read some good online reference, check my sig.

You will get some feel for slack from these!

BTW, welcome to Slackware!

or you can download/compile ipw2200 modules + firmware. Then you need to concern about compile ieee80211, cryp for wep, wap and others...
quite troublesome..

Install a 2.6 kernel and recompile it to include all of the acpi options. Install ndiswrapper for your wireless card.

Ok I followed the instructions found here but the wireless still does not work, it does not even recognize eth0 or eth1. What do I need to do from here? It is telling me ipw2200 and agpgart modules are not found

I don't know. But I followed that guide in the past and I can see my wireless interface easily using the command "iwconfig"
