language setting for gnome

hi all,

I installed slackware-12.2 without KDE in order to use gnome. I installed gware, and it feels good and light =).

As when I used KDE, I want to keep everything in english (menus, man pages, etc) and be able to input text in brazilian portuguese. Both notebooks I have at my disposal (one IBM T60 and one HP Dv6663cl) are installed with Slackware-12.2 and running gware-2.24.3 and both have us-international keyboards installed.

How do I set input language to be brazilian? I have created /etc/profile.d/gtk+.sh with export GTK_IM_MODULE=xim, but it still doesn't work...

Help please!
Gustavo

Have you tried to change this line
Code:
    Option "XkbLayout" "sv"
in /etc/X11/xorg.conf to your specific code for your language? Note that my example is for Swedish, don't know what you need to put in.
