LAMP Question - Apahce and MySQL startup
Running Slackware 10.2 and 2.4 Kernel.
I'm setting up LAMP and wondering...
Which should startup first, Apache or MySQL?
Right now, MySQL starts first, and then Apache.
Does it matter?
thanks

Slackware already includes both MySQL and Apache. Just chmod +x the init scripts in /etc/rc.d for both and let Slackware worry about the order. Default works.
Also, though you didn't mention any issue with it, before you run the MySQL init script, read it. It has important instructions that you should follow EXACTLY if you want MySQL to work. Otherwise you will either a) not have any MySQL databases, or b) your MySQL databases will have the wrong premissions.

I've already been using MySQL for awhile and it is working well.
I decided to get Apache up and running the other day. I can get the test page (127.0.0.1) to work with no problem.
When I boot up though, MySQL starts first and then Apache.
Does it matter?
thanks

No. That's the default. See /etc/rc.d/rc.M
