Kworld usb dvb tuner and new kernel 2.6.25, not recognised by udev

Hi all,
Recently downloaded and compiled new kernel, 2.6.25, but now am unable to use my kworld usb dvb tuner. It seems that udev doesn't recognise it.

Code:
usb 1-3: new high speed USB device using ehci_hcd and address 3
usb 1-3: configuration #1 chosen from 1 choice
So I manually modprobe all the correct modules, and I still get no life to the tuner. But if I switch to kernel 2.6.23.8 everything works as expected, including automatic recognition and module insertion.

FYI, when I compiled the new kernel, I used the same .config file as a starting point, and so have not changed anything in the multimedia section. I then went through all of the hoops that I did when originally setting up this piece of hardware, but to no avail.

I find the v4l and linuxtv websites so badly written to be almost unusable for problem solving, or much else for that matter, which is why I am here. Has anyone got this particular dvb stick working with the new kernel.

TIA

Anyone?

Have even downloaded and installed the very latest kernel from Slackware (kernel 2.6.24.5 huge) and still no luck. How can the change in kernel stop udev from recognising a piece of hardware?
