Konquerer problem

After using Konqueror for a while, there is this bar that just magically appears, and after more use, these toolbars multiply. One way to fix this is to restart the browser, but then it starts again. How can I fix this?

I have Konqueror 3.3.2, slackware 10.1

Thanks in advance!

Can you describe the bar in detail, or post a screenshot?

I'm afraid I don't know the bar that you're talking about. It could be malware of some sort (yes, it's possible in Linux), or it could be a khtml thing. Personally, I've never noticed it, but I also installed Firefox at the first chance I got.

the bar is called "Document and Relations" and appears on the left side.

Hmmm... yes. I've seen it. Very annoying. I was able to trigger it by loading the "tabbed browsing" profile in konqueror and then switching back to regular web browsing. Just doing that (without viewing any pages) triggered 7 of them.

Methinks I smell a bug.

I was also able to get rid of them just as easily. Right click on any of the toolbars, and go to "Toolbars". Then uncheck the "Document and Relations" toolbar by clicking on any of the ones that're checked. Unfortunately, you have to uncheck them all individually.

As for how to disable it entirely, I'm afraid I'm at a loss. I don't know the Konqueror settings very well because I use Firefox primarily. That said, a cursory scan of the options didn't make anything leap off the page at me.

I give up!

I got firefox, installed it, now how may I make it possible to type 'firefox' for it to start?

edit:

I got it to work by make a script that opens it and placed it in /bin.

How may I make firefox be opened instead of Konqueror by other applications?

Thanks in advance!
