Knoppix vs Slax

Now Slacker Tribe ( where I belong to, BTW... )

The Ignominious, Blasphemous, Politically Incorrect question :

Should I want to build a customized LiveCD (DVD ), what would be my best shot to make a usable, persistent LiveDistro with /home/user in USB mount ( so as to keep all my settings, those .<whatever>rc as well as Data...?

I am thinking of performance, customization, HW recognition ,"unbloatedness" and Last but not the least, "Coolness"...

For the Desktop, Slackware is on par with Arch one of my favourite distros...

... I'm not much of a "Live" user... so... tell me what you think...

Alex

Edit, Please MODS, remove this post and put it in a more appropriate place... I sc***wed up...

Depends on the use. For the most part, I've used Knoppix for fixing systems. Slax is better on laptops with apic/acpi problems.

I thought the slax remix 05 was a cool deal.
Many pkgs are slack current cept for KDE
and it runs persistent with a slaxsave.dat of up to 2GB
has kernel 2.6.33-zen1 so good wireless detection etc
Heres the post and download
http://www.slax.org/forum.php?action...parentID=57979

So, its just like Slax 6.1.2, but has newer kernel, and newer 13/current base pkgs
while KDE,etc is 3.5.10

See here for easy, under 1GB hard drive install I did with it

Hi Linus72...

Kewl stuff , how does one make a package for Slax remix 05...?

I think one has to build all the dependencies, pack them in the appropriate format, remaster the *.Iso and dump them in a folder ... is that so...?

BRGDS
