Question kmail(plasma5, alien) cannot setup or edit imap account

On one of my machines I run current+ktown+multilib by alien.
Recently I am forced to migrate my office mail to a new imap account (Exchange, argh) and could achieve this in two computers for the kde4 kmail (by using DAVmail for smtp, calender and contacts).
Now, trying to setup the imap in the plasma5 kmail, I added a new imap account (it appears completely empty and uninitialized) and then wanted to edit it to make it functional. But the edit button did not do anything, no window and no reaction whatsoever. So I tried to edit my older imap account that I created about about 4 months ago. Again, nothing happened.
Just to be sure I tried to edit my pop mail account, and this worked immediately and flawless.

Checking from the console, I see that when starting the kmail setup, i obtain the message "Error loading plugin: could not find dynamic library" (something like that, translated from german), but this happens long before my problems, maybe related to some german localization. When the edit button fails, nothing is displayed. Also ldd shows no problems.

Searching around on the web gave me no answers, so I'm asking here. Did one of you encounter a similar problem, did I overlook some simple action, or is there a heavy bug?

Thanks in advance and also for reading up to here...

Franz

I tried reproducing this on my laptop running slackware64-current with multilib and Plasma 5 (using a set of newer 'ktown' packages that are not yet public).
I had not configured or used kmail on this machine before, so when I started kmail I was greeted with an error that akonadi was not running, because the database was inaccessible.
So I had to do some cleanup first: "rm -r /tmp/akonadi-<myname>.*" followed by "akonadictl start".

After that, I could start kmail, and I could add an IMAP account (for my own server). Everything worked flawlessly. Kmail picked up my server-side subscriptions and started synchronizing emails. It did not actually show folder content at first, but after quitting kmail and starting it again, I could see my emails (read and unread) and open them at will.

Not able to reproduce your issue I'm afraid.

Thank you for your effort. I was afraid this would happen. Maybe I'll do a new install on my laptop, just to compare the setups.

All is well after the new ktown update 5.17.06.
Thanks a lot!
