KMail: Cleaning up old emails
Now the New Year is here, its time for some spring cleaning of my system. I've archived my email folders, but does anyone know if there's a quick way of deleting old messages - say more than 12 moths old - from all kmail's folders, without having to go through them manually?
I'm sure there must be a way of doing this, but I haven't been able to find it so far. What am I missing here? TIA, -- Pete |

One way is to search for all messages with a Date before 2014-01-01 and then click the Open Search Folder button. You can then select and delete all the matches.

That sounds exactly what I'm looking for! But when I tried it, I got an error message:
Code:
Can not get search result. Only resources can modify remote identifiers  -- Pete |
Just a thought, but you might be able to use the Expiry function in the right click menu to do what you want. Just set it to expire read and unread articles after after 365 days, and set the folder to expire them to to be the trash. It still requires running the function on each folder, but it's a lot easier than searching through each folder.

bl0tt0: Thanks for that suggestion - it worked a treat! Yes, its a pain having to do each folder individually (I have a lot of folders!), but its far better than having to do each message individually!
There are things I love about KMail, and equally things I hate! But I have yet to find anything else that meets my needs better! Cheers, -- Pete |
