Kickoff Application Launches from /usr/bin rather than /usr/local/bin
Using Slackware 12.0 32-bit. KDE KDE 4.2.4
When I choose the Menu (Kickoff Application Launcher) then choose Development, and then 'Emacs' I get the version of emacs that came with the distribution. It is at /usr/bin In the meantime, I have installed a compiled version of emacs that is installed at /usr/local/bin. How do I modify Slack so that the App launcher launches /usr/local/bin/emacs? thanks tim |
Make sure /usr/local/bin is before /usr/bin in your $PATH if you're launching from a shell. If you are launching from a menu item then it is likely hard-coded to launch /usr/bin/emacs, so you could either create another menu item or edit that one. I don't use KDE anymore and haven't really done much with 4.x so I can't help you with that, but I believe my advice is valid.
